Example of Typical Assessments Found in Lessons

Hi Parents! This post is especially for you, but also for students to understand what really goes on when teachers are planning lessons.  I've attached a simplified lesson plan for a social studies lesson about the three branches of government.  In it you can see what I use to assess, what knowledge/skills I am focusing on, and how I plan to make students 21st century learners! Science Curriculum

Above outlines everything that is covered in the science curriculum for grades 4-6.  The different units are organized by colour.  Each point is a "Big Idea" of the unit.  What this means is, this is a key idea or concept that students will learn by the end of the unit! This year we will be focusing on the Grade 5 portion!  So this includes: - Human Organ Systems - Forces Acting on Structures and Mechanisms - Properties of and Changes in Matter - Conservation of Energy and Resources
