 Elementary Curriculum
Here you can find what your child will be learning throughout the year.  It is organized by subject and grade for your convenience.  In each document it discusses program planning and dives into assessment and evaluation of the different subjects.  You can find specific curriculum expectations towards the end of each document.

Above outlines everything that is covered in the science curriculum for grades 4-6.  The different units are organized by colour.  Each point is a "Big Idea" of the unit.  What this means is, this is a key idea or concept that students will learn by the end of the unit! Classroom Expectations

Classroom Expectations: 1.     Be on time, on-task, and prepared to learn EVERYDAY.  This includes coming to school with materials, lunch, snacks, and appropriate attire. 2.     Put away any and all personal electronics unless given permission to use – although they can be useful, they are a distraction . 3.     Throw out your garbage!  No one likes a mess! 4.     Be responsible for your own learning – Learning is not only the job of the teacher.  You as a student play a role, and you must take responsibility for your actions. 5.     Do not disrupt the learning process with words or actions – this is a distraction and hinders learning.  Questions and comments are always welcome but must be done in a respectful manner. 6.     Respect the teacher, the classroom, and other students.  Everyone is entitled to their own opinion - however, you are also responsible...

Parents/Guardians, Welcome back to the school year!  My name is Miss. Pettorossi (or Miss. P!) and I get the wonderful opportunity to teach your child this year!  Before we dive in, here’s a bit about myself: I grew up in Stoney Creek, Ontario as the oldest of three children.  I moved to St. Catharines in order to attend Brock University, where I received my BSc in Mathematics and BEd.  Now back in Hamilton, I am living my lifelong dream of educating today’s youth! I’m very excited for this school year to begin!  Although it does not seem like it, I only have your child for a short amount of time and I want to make the most of this opportunity.  I want nothing more than to watch your child flourish and succeed this year and I believe that together we can make this happen.
