Example of Typical Assessments Found in Lessons

Hi Parents!
This post is especially for you, but also for students to understand what really goes on when teachers are planning lessons.  I've attached a simplified lesson plan for a social studies lesson about the three branches of government.  In it you can see what I use to assess, what knowledge/skills I am focusing on, and how I plan to make students 21st century learners!

Above outlines everything that is covered in the science curriculum for grades 4-6.  The different units are organized by colour.  Each point is a "Big Idea" of the unit.  What this means is, this is a key idea or concept that students will learn by the end of the unit! Classroom Expectations

Classroom Expectations: 1.     Be on time, on-task, and prepared to learn EVERYDAY.  This includes coming to school with materials, lunch, snacks, and appropriate attire. 2.     Put away any and all personal electronics unless given permission to use – although they can be useful, they are a distraction . 3.     Throw out your garbage!  No one likes a mess! 4.     Be responsible for your own learning – Learning is not only the job of the teacher.  You as a student play a role, and you must take responsibility for your actions. 5.     Do not disrupt the learning process with words or actions – this is a distraction and hinders learning.  Questions and comments are always welcome but must be done in a respectful manner. 6.     Respect the teacher, the classroom, and other students.  Everyone is entitled to their own opinion - however, you are also responsible...

Parents/Guardians, Welcome back to the school year!  My name is Miss. Pettorossi (or Miss.
